The Girl Who Saved Ghosts (The Unbelievables) *

My Description:

After the events of the first book, Kat is back at school and with more knowledge of her gift and who she really is and desperate for her father’s relatives to reach out to her and help her further understand her legacy. What she doesn’t know is why all the ghosts now seem to think she is going to die soon and are rushing her for their reckonings. There is a dark evil coming after her and Dumbarton is the only place safe enough for her to learn about her family legacy and train for the battle that is to come.

Goodreads Description:

She tried to ignore them. Now she might risk everything to save them.

After a summer spent in a haunted castle—a summer in which she traveled through time to solve a murder mystery—Kat is looking forward to a totally normal senior year at McTernan Academy. Then the ghost of a little girl appears and begs Kat for help, and more unquiet apparitions follow. All of them are terrified by the Dark One, and it soon becomes clear that that this evil force wants Kat dead.

Searching for help, Kat leaves school for the ancestral home she’s only just discovered. Her friend Evan, whose family is joined to her own by an arcane history, accompanies her. With the assistance of her eccentric great aunts and a loyal family ghost, Kat soon learns that she and Evan can only fix the present by traveling into the past.

As Kat and Evan make their way through nineteenth-century Vienna, the Dark One stalks them, and Kat must decide what she’s willing to sacrifice to save a ghost.

Like it? Love it? Hate it?

Loved it! I am really enjoying this series. The story continues to reel me in with a different mystery this time and even more magic. I felt like it was over too quickly. I continue to love Kat as a character. I LOVE when the main female character is written so realistic, smart and identifiable. Either they tend to be written as annoying or unrealistically perfect and powerful, Kat is a main character that I think most teenage girls would like and identify with. While I ship two of the characters immensely, I also enjoy that the author focuses on them building trust and a friendship and they both learn more about their roles and legacies in this book mystery. There is no cursing or risky topics so, aside from historical murder, its wholesome and appropriate for any reader.

Critiques? Disappointments?

I would like to know a little bit more about the families powers and shared legacy and where is all began. Where did these families first link up and why? I’m no the only one curious, Kat is too and this book hints that somebody knows, if they can be found. Hopefully this is focused on in the third book (set to come out probably summer 2019).

Conclusion: More Ghosts! More Time Traveling! More Magic! Family Legacies! Ancient Prophecies!? Dark Enemies?! Parents?!

All of this AND MORE in the next installment of The Unbelievables!

Should you read it?

Yes! You should definitely go read this series!

I received this book from Netgalley for the purpose of review. All of my thoughts are my own and my honest thoughts and feelings on this book.

  1. Thank you so much for this wonderful review! I promise the entire backstory of the families will be revealed. I plan for 5-6 books in the series so it’s going to be the focus in Book 4. I’m writing the first draft of Book 3 right now and it will reveal who the Mallory heir is.
