Happily by Chauncey Rogers // Indie Book Review

Title: Happily Happily Ebook Cover

Author: Chauncey Rogers

Genre: Young Adult Fantasy

Release Date: April 3rd, 2018

My Rating: 5 Stars!

My Description: Happily is related to the story of Cinderella but not about Cinderella and nothing like the original story besides there being a glass slipper and a Prince. It follows Laure who is a homeless girl trying to save money to leave, whose plan to rob a local merchant goes horribly wrong. She ends up going on this crazy adventure with Luc, a merchant hopeful, she runs into after her failed robbery as they make a plan to deceive the prince and get him to believe Laure is his princess.

Goodreads Description:

If the shoe fits, wear it.

If it doesn’t, make it.

Laure is a teenage street urchin just trying to get away. Where the rest of the world sees an enchanting love story, Laure sees royal incompetence and an opportunity to exploit it. She’ll have wealth and a way out of a life she detests, if she can only manage to pay off a would-be cloth merchant, outrun the angry bandits, hoodwink the royal family, and survive to tell the tale.

Like it? Love it? Hate it?

I loved it! I read the book in one sitting because I was so interested in Laura and Luc’s adventure. I love both of the main characters. I well preferred Laure’s story over the story of Cinderella. Much more interesting! She was spunky and realistic! She wasn’t a damsel in distress and I loved how she was written.

Critiques? Disappointments?

I want more Laura and Luc!

Conclusion: Not your typical fairy tale! I loved it! It was a really enjoyable read with interesting characters.

Should you read it?

Yes! Happily was really good and quick read. It was far too easy to ignore the real world and become enraptured in the story.

Happily comes out April 3rd and I would definitely suggest it! I would also like to thank the author Chauncey Rogers for sending me and e-ARC of his book to read and review.

This book was given to me for the purpose of review but all opinions are my own honest thoughts.

  1. Thank you for the lovely review! I’m so glad that you liked it!
If the only thing that you didn’t like was that you wanted more, then you should watch the book’s blog tour from April 2-14. There may or may not be some exciting news released in it. 😉
