2010 Favorites // Flashback Friday

How crazy is it that it’s been a decade since 2010?! It feels like it was just a couple years ago but it’s been 10 years! I was in the middle of High School and reading a ton of books and I thought I would bring up some of my favorite reads from the year 2010.

All of these books were released in 2010 but I can’t say if I read them as soon as they come out then.

Hex Hall (Hex Hall #1) by Rachel Hawkins

This book is also mentioned in my Series I need to finish post! Its about a reform school for supernatural creatures! The main character is a witch and has to deal with a coven of supermodel mean girls and a mysterious predator attacking students! Witchy, boarding school mystery!

Glimmerglass (Faeriewalker #1) by Jenna Black

I am obsessed with faeries and this story was perfect! The main character is a rare Faeriewalker meaning she is one of the few people who can walk between the human world and the Fae one. Moving to Haven, a world where the two worlds intersect put her in grave danger and she ends up stuck in the middle of dangerous Fae politics! This was The Cruel Prince before the Cruel Prince but with a much better cast of characters and hotter love interest!

Switched (Trylle #1) by Amanda Hocking

This series was much different than the usual YA fantasy I normally read back then and even to this day. This series is about Trolls and a main character who was switched at birth as a changeling to keep her safe. This book was probably the first self-published book I ever read. I can’t even remember how I found it and I know I didn’t know it was self-published back then but it is definitely worth the read!

Matched (Matched #1) by Ally Condie

This series is a hit or miss for readers. A less intense dystopia set in a world where who people marry and what job they do is chosen for them. To fall in love is dangerous and I’m sure you can guess what the main character does. I actually loved this series but dystopian romance is possibly a genre mash that is hard for people to get behind. I would say it probably resonates with fans of the Selection but I think this series is wayy better in writing style and story!

The Ghost and the Goth (The Ghost and the Goth #1) by Stacey Kade

I was hesitant about reading this series, the title and the cover didn’t seem like my style. For whatever reason, I decided to read it anyway and I loved it! Its about a social outcast who has been trying to hide that he can see ghosts and the schools most popular cheerleader who dies and becomes a ghost desperate for someone to see her! Such an unlikely paranormal romance but it worked and I loved the two main characters! I read these books back to back!

So, what I discovered is that I really only read books within series. I chose to only choose first books in series released that year that I remember loving otherwise it would be a bunch of books in the middle of a series.

Have you read any of these books? Were any of these favorites of yours as well? Let me know!

Thanks for Reading!
