I’m Reading the Top 100 YA Books!!

I’ve assigned myself an assignment as a Teen services/YA librarian. I am going to read the Top 100 YA books!

I feel like this is going to help me:

  • Branch out from what I usually read
  • Stay current in what is popular in YA
  • Appreciate the differences in YA genres
  • Gain insight into what YA books get popular

What you should know about this task:

  • The list is pulled from Goodreads ratings and reviews
  • All the books have at least 4 stars so it is more based on ratings than just how many ppl read the book (Which is why some popular books won’t show up)
  • The list was pulled as of July 3rd, 2021. I think that is important because the list has changed in the 3 weeks since I copied the list. Some books have moved to different places and others were added to the list that weren’t there before.
  • I will not be rereading books I have already read prior to deciding to read the whole list.
  • I will count audiobook formats as well as graphic novel adaptions.
  • I will try to borrow all the books from the library, either physically or digitally.
  • There is no time limit on this quest.
  • If there is a movie adaption, I will watch it as well. (Eventually)
  • Only the first book of series will be on the list.

Before officially starting, I had already read 23/100 books on the list. I will bolden the books I had already read.
